Support Groups

Meetings using Zoom may be attended with a computer, a smart phone, or a landline telephone. You do not need a Zoom account to attend. Please register below for an upcoming support group, or contact the NAMI Syracuse office via email namisyracuse@namisyracuse.org or by calling 315-487-2085.

Monthly Support Groups

NAMI Syracuse hosts monthly support groups for individuals living with mental illness, as well as family members and friends of those living with mental health concerns. All support groups are free, and you do not have to be a NAMI member to attend.

Would you like to help people and change lives? If so, inquire about joining NAMI Syracuse as a volunteer program facilitator to deliver education and support to those who need it. Contact the NAMI Syracuse office at (315) 487-2085 or namisyracuse@namisyracuse.org on weekdays between 10 AM and 2 PM to reach a NAMI staff member.

NAMI Family Support Groups

NAMI Family Support Group is a support group for family members, significant others, and friends of people with mental health conditions.

Attendees
: All family members and friends of those living with mental health conditions are welcome to attend.

Midday:

When: Second Wednesday of each month
10:00–11:30 AM

When: Third Tuesday of each month
6:00 – 7:30 PM

Connections Support Group

Who can attend:  

  • Individuals with lived experience of a diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health condition 
  • People well enough to attend the support group on their own without a support person or family member 

Who cannot attend:  

  • Family members or support people who do not have a mental health condition 
  • Outside observers or people wanting to be there just to learn about mental health 

Why is the group closed to only people with mental health conditions? 

  • The presence of outside observers, family members, or support people risks breaches of confidentiality 
  • People with mental illnesses might not feel understood by family members – if these family members attend group meetings, attendees might not feel comfortable sharing 
  • People feel more comfortable talking about their problems if they know others present have been through something similar; they might not want to talk in front of an outside observer 

Wednesday Evenings:

When: Second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 6 – 7:30 PM
